CLOT is proud to support the new quality standard from NICE covering both reducing the risk of VTE in hospitalised patients and treatment of VTE. In particular it gives guidance on the timing of starting prophylaxis for patients admitted to hospital, looks at appropriate risk assessment for patients with lower limb immobilisation and gives guidance on when scans should be carried out for suspected DVT. In addition it covers review of new anticoagulation patients initially at three months then annually and finally covers outpatient PE management looking at appropriate monitoring and follow up. The guidance is available at Can we hyperlink to this? Overview | Venous thromboembolism in adults | Quality standards | NICE and CLOT were involved in developing this guidance.
